MU CEC Changes its Main Fundraiser for the Fall of 2007 The Millersville University Council for Exceptional Children decided to change their primary fundraiser benefactor. The executive board unanimously voted to change the fundraiser from The Sunshine Foundation, to The Mother of Mercy Foundation (MOM). The MOM Foundation was founded by Millersville's own Dr. Ojoma Edeh-Herr. The foundation works to build a better life for individuals with disabilities in Nigeria. Dr. Edeh-Herr has funded a major orphanage there for the past few years and is now in the process of building and staffing a hospital. The CEC has been awarded a family in which their funds will benefit. This is an exciting time for both CEC and the MOM foundation as we have already donated over $2,000 to the foundation. Millersville University is Recognized as Apart of the PACEC Federation. After the Pennsylvania Council for Exceptional Children abandoned their"chapter" organization and moved forward with the more contemporary federation, a lot of student groups were lost in the transition. Millersville was included in this mix until this past fall when we achieved a full recognition as a student group in the state of Pennsylvania. This is one step of many Millersville CEC has taken to become more reputable around campus as well as in our community. This year a lot of changes will be made and hopefully a lot of partnerships will be formed. The MU CEC and the PASCEC are very excited for the changes to be made and are going to showcase them at next years convention. Millersville University Now Recognized on the State Board At this past convention ( FA06) Shawn McMullen was elected to the Pennsylvania State Student Council for Exceptional Children Board. this is the first time in many years that Millersville University will be represented at the state level. McMullen was elected to the Membership Chair where he will work with the rest of the board to boost member group recognition and boost student membership in the PACEC. USG's Coffee Houses will Count Towards an Activity The executive board has decided that the United Support Group's (USG) Coffee Houses will now be included in the Activities portion of your requirement sheet! Hopefully this will give you more opportunities to fulfill all of your requirements for the semester. Directions to the Coffee Houses will be posted under the directions portion of the web site and dates will be announced shortly!
