FW: CHOAS 2008 @ UMCP
Wayne is requesting a tentative roster for attendees of the
Chaos tournament at UMCP.
If anyone is interested in attending this event, either as a
competitor or a spectator, you MUST let us know before the
end of the week.
To those planning on competing: you must speak to an
officer/coach to get on the roster and so that we can
properly equip you (if you are utilizing club gear).
Officers will need to forward a head count of competitors by
the end of the day Wednesday:

From Wayne @ UMCP:
I would like to invite everyone to UMCP's 2009 Chaos Collegiate
Invitational. It will be Sunday, Oct 18 at the Volleyball Gym
of SPH, with registration closing at 9:00.
Entry fees will be $10 per fencer.
This is NOT a sanctioned USFA tournament; no rankings may be
given, and
USFA membership is not required for this.
USFA rules will be enforced. Let me say this again: USFA RULES WILL
BE ENFORCED. Knickers will be required. Underarm protectors, and
chest protectors where required by the rules must be worn. Masks,
with functioning strap, bib & mesh in good shape will be required.
We will not allow anyone to fence without proper safety gear.
Fencers must be college students (grad or undergrad, part time
or full time.)
All weapons will be fenced simultaneously, and no fencer may
compete in
more than one weapon.
The format will be one round of pools into a DE, with 100%
promotion. As
usual, we will be giving out chocolate instead of medals to the top 8
places.
This year we *may* split the events by gender on a per event basis.
We will make this decision based on what makes for a good competition.
If either gender in a weapon is under-represented to the point that
we can not form a decent sized pool, we will not split. Beyond that,
we will solicit input from athletes, coaches, refs, and spectators
armed with pitchforks and torches.
As always, this event is targeted towards developing fencers. We do
not restrict entries based on skill or ranking, but you
should be aware
that a C rated fencer may not get much out of the competition.
If you have fencers that may, perhaps, get more out of officiating
the event than participating in it, please have them contact me.
I ask that all teams please pre-register by emailing me your intent
to participate no later than Sunday, oct 3, with a rough number of
athletes per weapon you intend to field.
We would appreciate it if teams could bring an extra strip or two
for the tournament.
W
(PS. This is NOT a BWCFC event; the intersection between the two
is quite large, however.)
