Shown above: "MF-1", Millersville's latest robot, was built in 2007 and competed in NAIT's 6th Annual Tele-Operated & Autonomous Robotic Manipulator Contest.

Past ATMAE Projects:

"MF-1" (2007)

Magnet Finder-1, "MF-1", was Millersville's first magnetic field finding robot. Using 2001's Pyrobot chassis, "MF-1" contains a metal detector, aluminum actuator, magnetic field sensor, and digital compass in order to find a magnet buried underneath the sand. An 8" spiral spike was then planted at the location of the magnet. "MF-1" won in various categories including 1st place for Best Poster, 1st place in Best Electrical/Control Methodology, and 3rd place in the overall robotics competition. "FA-1" (2006)

This fully-autonomous robot was built from scratch in 2006. It was designed to follow a foil tape by using its three front sensors. It also used its CNC machined grippers to automatically pick up an 8" piece of conduit. "FA-1" received 3rd Place at NAIT''s Tele-Operated Robotic Manipulator Contest – Autonomous Division.  Click to view "FA-1" pictures!

NAIT Display Case (2005)

In the summer of 2005, NAIT student members built a display case to help promote the organization. The purpose of the case was to display NAIT's numerous awards, projects and other items. The display case is located on the first floor of Osburn Hall.

"SA-2" (2005)

Continuing the semi-autonomous tradition, this robot had an autonomous mode that when activated picked up a piece of conduit automatically. This robot also had a CNC machined manipulator and a thermoformed shell. Click to view "SA-2" pictures!

"SA-1" (2004)

This semi-autonomous robot had a tele-operated mode and a semi-autonomous mode which could be activated to deploy an autonomous search pattern. This robot won three awards including: Design and Innovation, and 2nd place finishes at the 2005 Tele-Operated Manipulator Contest and 2005 National Robotics Challenge.  Click to view "SA-1" pictures!

"Churchill" (2003)

This tele-operated robot was the first Millersville robot to be built entirely from scratch! This robot incorporated tank style steering, a unique "door type" manipulator and an aluminum wedge to clear obstacles. Click to view "Churchill" pictures!

"Pyrobot" (2001)

This fully-autonomous robot was built using a pyroelectric sensor which was used to trace heat signatures. This robot won a gold award for robot construction at the 2001 RI/SME conference.

"Trout" (1999-2004)

This fully enclosed electric vehicle was the Millersville chapter's first project. This project was on display at the Tour De Sol and is currently on display in Osburn Hall. The EV's distinguishing feature is its fully encompassing light weight shell used to improve aerodynamics.
