| MU and LANCO Fieldhouse to Partner
on Motivational Program
Millersville University’s Department of Wellness and Sport Sciences will partner with LANCO Fieldhouse to implement motivational training workshops that focus on “Coach Kab’s Heart of a Champion” program. The opening workshop will be offered on Saturday, July 31, from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the 80,000 square foot LANCO Fieldhouse in East Petersburg. Designed for coaches and athletes who are at the junior high, high school and college level, the workshop is appropriate for athletes in all sports, especially those who anticipate playing football, field hockey, soccer volleyball and cross country this fall. To register or for more information, visit the website www.lancofieldhouse.com or call (717) 560-0717. The Heart of a Champion workshops, as previously conducted at MU, develop success strategies in athletes that motivate, focus and empower the champion within, according to Professor and Coach Stan (Kab) Kabacinski, chairperson of MU’s wellness and sport sciences department, and the individual for whom the program is named. The motivational workshops will cover techniques that empower people in athletics, academics and life. Sport performance academies, using state-of-the-art sport psychology, will be integrated into the workshops which will expand with additional elements throughout the fall and winter. “This program is a great addition to our facility,” said Sean Davies, director of marketing for the LANCO Fieldhouse. “What better way to become the complete athlete than to have the ability to harness your mental energy and turn it into a positive on or off the field. This program will give our athletes the opportunity to do that.” Kabacinski, on staff at Millersville for 26 years, is a motivational consultant for the NCAA Sport Sciences Speakers Bureau and has conducted over 375 workshops and trained more than 20,000 coaches and 50,000 athletes at the professional, collegiate all-American, and high school levels. A football coach for 18 years, he implemented the prestigious athletic coaching minor at MU that has been cited by the American Sport Education Program as one of the top athletic coaching programs in the country. He also will be a featured speaker at the Central Pennsylvania Health and Fitness Expo, slated for the LANCO Fieldhouse on Saturday and Sunday, October 2-3. Davies is a graduate of MU where he minored in
athletic coaching under the guidance of Coach Kabacinski. “Coach
Kab’s programs have helped me as a coach and as an athlete. As a professional
soccer player, I used the many techniques that I learned through the Heart
of a Champion program to get me to and be able to excel at a high level,”
said Davies. “I look forward to the addition of this program at the
LANCO Fieldhouse and the great opportunities this will bring to our teams
and athletes.”
