Millersville University Receives $10,000 PLCB Grant

Millersville University will receive a $10,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) to help prevent dangerous drinking by college students.

This was the PLCB’s latest round of grants to MU and other colleges and universities across the Commonwealth.  In the past, Millersville had received one $2000 and several $3000 one-year grants from the PLCB. PLCB grant levels were increased to $10,000 for next year.

According to Dr. Robert Thomas, MU vice president for student affairs, the monies from the latest grant will be used to fund a combination of prevention efforts, including workshops for targeted student groups, and a social norms campaign.  Portions of the grant also will support several response strategies, such as alcohol abuse screening programs and resources for an alcohol counselor that was recently approved in the University’s budget discussions.
