Mrs. Higgins's Language Arts
Welcome Students and Families,
This web site will allow you to see the course requirements, read an overview of each unit of study, practice skills and use resources within each of those units.
Seventh grade Language Arts will be taught on an 80 minute block schedule. Mrs. Bellman, Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Higgins teach Language Arts on the Phoenix Team. We plan together each week, follow the same curriculum and prepare and share materials to ensure each Phoenix member gets a consistent Language Arts experience.
A vital part of the Language Arts philosophy is assuring that reading, writing, speaking and listening are integrated not only in Language Arts class but in the content areas. Phoenix Team teachers will work to reinforce and apply the same language skills in science, geography and math.
Please be aware that the above units make up the academic portion of your child's grade. On the reverse of this page, you will find the District's habits and behaviors rubric. Every student's preparedness, on task behavior, classroom contribution, organization and homework completion contribute to 10% of their final average for the year. A student's habits and behavior grade is calculated daily and reported on a marking period basis.
